Films:

Nur eine Frau, 2019

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzWzsYzcR1k

The film tells the story of Hatun “Aynur” Sürücü, who was the victim of an honor killing by one of her brothers in 2005. The young Kurdish woman ended her arranged marriage with her violent husband and returned to Germany with her son, where she began vocational training and found a new partner. She aims to lead an independent and self-determined life. However, this leads to strong resistance within her family. By leaving her husband, she is seen as having brought shame upon herself and her family. In particular, her brothers cannot accept her “Western” lifestyle. She is repeatedly threatened and insulted by them. Eventually, they obtain a pistol, and the youngest brother shoots Aynur at a bus stop near her home.
